Always knowing she was to be an artist, Martha has been working professionally for 15 years selling her art work, showing in various exhibitions and teaching out of private studios. Working for years in gallery administration-representing other's art- the "business" of art took precedence to the creation of her own art.
She bowed out of the art world for several years to create something entirely different: a family. This rewarding experience has enriched her work with a silent depth her previous work screamed for.
Feeling compelled to pick up the brush once again, she could create to her own desire in her home studio, limited only by the size of her studio doors. What she creates transports one to another place. She has finally found that series which defines her and what she wants to represent. As a child she couldn't wait for summer to be taken to the water to camp in the Texas hill country. There was something healing about the cool, clear water-it washes all your troubles away. The importance is indescribeable, but evident in her newest work.
Living and working on the beautiful shores of Lake Travis is very inspirational for her paintings. One could paint the same view out of her studio every day and it be different. The water rises and falls with the seasons and each day is a new painting.
May you enjoy the many pages of images she has created over the last 15 years and come back to visit often.
